Last Saturday (09.04.2022), the hull of Johan Castberg FPSO finally arrived at Stord. The hull was transported from the yard in Singapore to Stord by the giant transportation vessel the Boskalis. The Johan Castberg FPSO vessel will be one of the world’s most advanced floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
The Norwegian part of Equinor's Johan Castberg FPSO project is handled by Aker Solutions. We are pleased that we, as SEC Norge, are involved in this project thanks to our cooperation with Aker Solutions since 2017 and the first pre-fabrication works.
The new phase of the project is set to begin with the heavy lift operations, which will take place from April to June. All of the modules and the lower turret will be lifted onto the hull during this time. After all of the modules are in place, the last part of the turret will be installed. Integration and hook up will start immediately after the lifting of modules is finished.
This phase of assembly and installation work will be supported also by SEC specialists in fields like engineering, thermal insulation, scaffolding, welding and assembly. Which we are extremely proud of.
