Installation works at The Kollsnes Processing Plant

Last year, as part of our continued efforts to co-create value for our Clients, SEC Norge AS took on the challenge of supplying the necessary piping prefabrication, thermal insulation and welding proffesionals for the Kollsnes project, carred by Aker Solutions at Stord yard.

In 2023, we were awarded the task of suppling inssulation teams to the Kollsnes Gas Processing Plant for the installation phase of the project. This highlights the continued efforts and commitment of SEC Norge AS in delivering high-quality work for the Kollsnes project.

The Kollsnes processing plant processes natural gas from the Troll, Kvitebjørn, Visund, and Fram fields. It has a daily processing capacity of 144.5 million cubic meters and plays a significant role in exporting Norwegian gas to Europe, with 40% of exports going through this facility.

The compressed gas is transported to various destinations in Europe through four trunklines - Statpipe, Zeepipe, Europipe I, and Franpipe. These trunklines export the gas to France, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Spain.

The NGL (natural gas liquids) is separated from the gas at Kollsnes and the dry gas is compressed before being delivered via pipeline systems. In 1999, the Kvitebjørn field was connected to Kollsnes and a new NGL extraction plant was built to process the rich gas. The new plant became operational in 2004 and can also process gas from the Visund field, which was connected to Kollsnes in 2005. The Vestprosess pipeline connects Kollsnes to Mongstad, where the wet gas is fractioned into propane, butane, and naphtha.

Kollsnes is owned by Gassled and operated by Gassco, with Equinor as the technical operator.
